Just thought I would bring everyone up to speed with where we are with our adoption of Ezra.
We received the referral of a little boy last August. His birthday is 7-29-05 so he was just over a year old at that time. We were told that adoptions from Guatemala were taking about 6-8 months to complete from referral to pick up in Guatemala. Everything was moving along smoothly--the DNA was completed, we had gotten pre-approval from the embassy and were hoping we had been submitted to PGN (the attorney general's office in Guatemala) in December. We found out in January that a relative had come forward and was opposing the adoption. Apparently, this had not happened with our attorney (or maybe family court) before and no one was sure what needed to be done! (Oh how we love being the guinea pig!!) By March we were informed that the judge in Family Court did not award the relative custody but she needed to sign some documents that she would not continue to oppose the adoption. When several attempts were made to have her sign and she refused we decided to pursue another referral. Fast forward to May, we got a message from our social worker to call her. We assumed we were getting a new referral, WRONG! The relative had signed the necessary paperwork, we had Ezra back! We were all very excited to say the least!! A judge in family court needed to sign some sort of resolution which SHOULD have taken 2-3 weeks and then we were finally supposed to be submitted to PGN. Well, here we are almost 10 weeks later and the judge has still not signed (seems to be story of this adoption!). This past Tuesday our attorney in Guatemala was going to try to talk to the judge to find out why she had not signed the resolution. We are still waiting to hear. I will update here as I get any new information. Thanks for checking in.

GIVE US ERZA, GUATEMALA!!!
I just wish there was something we could do to make the process go faster. It just doesn't make sense to me that once the referral comes, that it takes forever before the families unite. You have been so patient through this whole process. Guatemala better send Ezra soon!!
We are thinking of you & admire the patience you have. I am sure it is very hard not to wish time away so Erza would get here faster. I am glad for you that you are going to visit, maybe that will help speed the process. They will see what a wonderful family you are & magically things will happen faster. It certainly can't hurt. Ah, patience. Whenever Stacie and I pray for a timely resolution to something, God seems to have other plans to teach us a lesson about Him or ourselves. We continue to pray for you and Ezra as you patiently walk through this long and now longer process. Trust that God has a plan, even when it doesn't fit yours. We can't wait to hear how things work out.
